This picture would appear to show the period during which the churchyard was being cleared of monuments and te new programme of ornamental planting being introduced. The plan for this improvement is date 1896, and this photograph would appear to show a young avenue of trees extending from the north transcept window - these trees still exsit today having attained a glorious maturity.
