The Ruston Bucyrus crane is at work on the site of the demolished British School. The houses in the background are in Portland Street with the Home Brewery beyond. Website contributor Patrick Henderson very kindly relates the following information: "This was the site of Daybrook Primary School (not a British School) which was renamed St Albans Primary in the early 1960s and subsequently moved to the top of Sherbrooke Road into a new building."
