The plaque states: 'Was originally three cottages built in c 1690 and is the only remaining period structure on Forman Street (then called Backside), then the road from Nottingham to Mansfield. It became a tavern in c 1850 and a cafe and a restaurant since 1890. Now enhanced for its centenary year'.
