The front of the Salutation public house, situated on Maid Marian Way. Ye Olde Salutation Inn on Hounds Gate and Maid Marian Way has looked roughly the same for the past 500 years. The rear of the building is 15th Century and has a timber roof. It was used by members of the court of Edward III, and also as a recruitment office for the army of Charles I when he raised his standard in Nottingham at the start of the Civil War.
