Lace Market
Nottingham
England
The Lace Market is the oldest part of Nottingham once known as Snotingham after the home of the people of Snot, probably in the 6th century. The earliest buildings are mostly on High Pavement dominated by St Mary's Church and the Shire Hall. In the early 19th century the lace industry moved in where previously there had been large grand houses. Warehouses and factories were built and the most impressive were the T C Hine Thomas Adams building on Stoney Street 1855 and Broadway.
