Newark Castle railway station
Newark on Trent
England
Interior view of the disused goods warehouse at Newark Castle station, showing the first floor, which would have been used for storage. The large winding wheel on the right is part of the external covered hoist or lucam used for raising or lowering merchandise from or to rail level. Looking south-west. In 1846 the Midland Railway's Nottingham-Lincoln line was the first railway to reach Newark, although this building was erected later.
