The Old Georgian Town Hall and Retford Advertiser office

The Square
Retford
England

The photograph shows an engraving of the Georgian Town Hall. This Town Hall was erected in 1756 which replaced the old Moot Hall, (which stood upon the same ground as the present one, was erected in 1389, and pulled down in 1754.) A later Victorian building was built in 1866-8 by Bellamy and Hardy of Lincoln in a french style. See NCCN000570. The engraving seen here is from 'The Great Northern Railway guide'.
