Cannon Square
Retford
England
The photograph is outside East Retford's St Swithin's Church. This was built in the 13th Century, (though the chancel and tower fell down in 1651, and it was rebuilt). Showing the cannon, behind the car in the centre, which the square is named after. It was captured at the Battle of Sevastopol during the Crimean War of 1853-56, and was presented to Retford in 1859.
