The White Hart faces The Square, while the rear of the building is on Bridgegate. This is the White Hart yard. You can see the arch through which the coaches would have left to continue their journey up the Great North Road. Behind where the photographer is standing is the other entrance to the yard. If you look carefully you can see that the yard was cobbled at this time - it was later tarmaced over.
