Thomas Tootell was Retford's first postman covering Retford and the surrounding area. After 40 years service he received a citation from Queen Victoria. Mr Tootell went on to work for the Royal Mail for 44 years. He was born in 1845 and died in April 1913. See also NCCN000715.
