The photograph is not dated, but the shops could be decorated for either the Royal visit of Prince and Princess of Wales in 1891, or to welcome King Edward VII and Queen Alexandra to the town on the 16 December 1905. The Prince of Wales insignia of the 3 feathers on the bunting suggests the former date of 1891. Richardson's Draper's is now Fred Harrison's. On the left is the entrance to the Wheatsheaf's yard.
