Sherwood Lodge was built about 1790 just within the NW boundary of Arnold District. The chapel was at the eastern edge of Sherwood Lodge. The list owner of Sherwood Lodge was Henry Coape, who later changed his name to Coape-Sherbrooke. In the early 1900s Sir Charles Seeley JP, lived in the lodge and enlarged the main building. After a period as the National Coal Boards HQ the site is now uses as the County Police Headquarters, a private hospital and Burntstump Country Park. Picture dated by car at far left of picture.
