Retford.Thrumpton signal box looking west towards the station and the construction works for the new dive under the East Coast Main Line - notice the wooden decking to protect the signal wires and point rodding linkage from the signal box. A Derby built Diesel Multiple Unit allocated to Lincoln passes with an Eastbound service. These were later designated class 114 and remained at Lincoln until 1987 when they were reallocated to Tyseley near Birmingham or withdrawn from service. Two of them have been saved for preservation at the Midland Railway, Butterley.
