The school opened in 1873 with an Infants' Department (just visible here to the left) added in 1907 on adjacent land. The posters visible advertise the occupancy of the Yorkshire Penny Bank every Monday as well as the availability of 100 teaching scholarships. The polychrome brickwork and clock tower give the building an individual appearance and are matched by the school house on the right. A new school was later constructed to serve Misterton at the south end of the village with the old premises in use as Misterton Young People's Centre by 2013.
