Taken from Loughborough Road (A60). On the right is the Post Office and the forecourt of the new village primary school, opened in 1970. In the background is the Grange which stands on the west side of Moor Lane at its junction with Church Street. Left is the Parkyn's Hospital, now a residence (124 Loughborough Road), and the school, now used as the village institute. Next to that is the National School (opened in 1876 and closed in 1970) and the adjacent schoolmasters house overlooked by the village church of St Mary, a 14th century church
