The north gable of the Parkyns Hospital and School. The building is divided into two halves - the northern is a hospital, and the southern a school. Both were founded by Sir Thomas Parkyns, Baronet, in 1700. He lived at the hall which stands amidst the trees seen on the left. The slate stone over the door lintel bears the inscription relating to the foundation of the hospital and school and various bequests made by the Baronet. Sir Thomas Parkyns is remembered for his pugilistic prowess.
