Main Street
East Leake
England
Looking east along Main Street from the end of the Green. This photograph is a copy of a 'Rexatone' sepia postcard of 1920, originally owned by Mr C Firth of East Leake. In the foreground the stream passes under the road. The stream is still here in the village, though the bridge has been replaced with a wider version. Behind the tree to the right is the village pound, built in the early 18th century, in which drunks were imprisoned until World War One. The house on the right of the old Morris Car has since been demolished, as have the Crook Houses in the left foreground. The tall twin house (centre left) is now the Post Office and stores.
