Church Drive
West Bridgford
England
Seen here is a photograph from the south-east taken before the 1871/72 refurbishment, probably about 1860, (this same image appears on The St Giles web site). The photograph seems to show the church still in open country. The church was rebuilt by 1898. The foundation stone for a new nave and chancel was laid by Lady Byron on 28 October 1896. After this date in 1904 the upper part of the tower was restored and in March 1911 plans were again drawn up by Naylor and Sale, this time to build a north aisle with a chapel at its east end, to extend the 1898 chancel eastwards and to build new vestries. The Church today has the extended crenelated nave and chancel of the 1896 rebuild, which is not seen on the photograph here.
