A 75 year old village resident told the photographer that a steam mill stood at the end of this lane. One day in c 1910 there was a hunt meeting which the mill owner permitted his worker to watch. During their absence the mill boiler ran dry and an explosion followed, destroying the mill which was never rebuilt.
