This view shows the main doorway on the north front of the house. The porch is illuminated by two lancet stained-glass windows. The house was built in 1873 for Walter Tindsley, a lace manufacturer, and sold to Nottinghamshire County Council Education Department by a Mrs Ward, the last owner, in 1930. From then until 1976 it was used as a school, with boarding facilities, for with special needs. After this it was left vacant for a time.
