This view was taken looking east from the first floor window. To the left is the former forge and farrier's shop, latterly used as a classroom. To the right is the west gable of the former Ostler's and Coachman's residences. The house was built in 1873 for Walter Tindsley, a lace manufacturer, and sold to Nottinghamshire County Council Education Department by a Mrs Ward, the last owner, in 1930. From then until 1976 it was used as a school, with boarding facilities, for children with special needs. After this it was left vacant for a time.
