This view shows the stained-glass window on the east side of the porch of the main entrance. The letters are the initials of Walter Tindsley. The house was built in 1873 for Walter Tindsley, a lace manufacturer, and sold to Nottinghamshire County Council Education Department by a Mrs Ward, the last owner, in 1930. From then until 1976 it was used as a school, with boarding facilities, for children with special needs. After this it was left vacant for a time.
