This view was taken from the north east. Incorporated in the brickwork of the east facade is a stone carving of the coat-of-arms of the Charlton family who lived at Chilwell Hall (now demolished). At the time this photgraph was taken the property was owned by the Calvert family (and had been for many years). They also owned the adjoining land and operated a successful family business growing and selling plants and flowers.
