Thompson Class B1 4-6-0 No 61390 heads a return Mablethorpe to Derby Friargate holiday train over the level crossing with Chapel Lane at Bingham. To the left is the goods yard (which was some distance to the west of the passenger station) with its small goods shed and to the rear of this is the former gatekeeper's lodge. The latter features a bay window and is typical of those provided at the numerous crossings on the line between Nottingham and Grantham. Both this and the goods shed date back to the opening of the route in 1850 by the Ambergate, Nottingham, Boston and Eastern Junction Railway. A road crane can be seen parked on the extreme left. On the right the Great Northern Railway design signal box was erected in 1875 and was still in use in 2014. Goods facilities were withdrawn at Bingham in 1965 after which the shed passed into non-railway commercial use. The lodge was less fortunate and was subsequently demolished, possibly when the gates at the level crossing were replaced by lifting barriers.
