From the north-west, this entrance is near the Cow Lane junction. The grange dates from about 1830. It was in the ownership of the Enfield family from the latter part of the 19th Century until 1946, when its entire estate was sold at auction. At the time of the photograph, it was being used by St John's College - situated a quarter of a mile off Chilwell Lane.
