The school was still operating in 1922, according to Kelly's directory, with 30 children on the roll. Website contributor Ray State writes: "The picture shows the school in 1914 [it was originally dated "c1920" - PtheP] when a set of photographs were taken in the village. The school remained open until 1941 when it was closed as a school, the children being transferred to Kingston school. Visible above the window straight ahead of the camera is a round AA plaque stating Nottingham 11 miles, Loughborough 8 miles. This is one of the standard plaques that were fitted to buildings in villages by the AA. The fitting was approved by the governors of the school but the Council objected but were too late to prevent its fitting. By 1950 the plaque had vanished. The school was used as a rented propety until about 1960 when it was purchased by a retired barber from Nottingham but by 1975 was in a sorry state. It was then purchased by a local family and restored but the washroom and old kitchen was demolished."
