This school opened in 1874 as Church Street School, but later changed its name to Devonshire Infants'. It closed in 1979. This view shows the narrow main entrance on Church Street; the original picture caption makes a point of mentioning the fact that the area on the right is 'a garage forecourt', perhaps to highlight a possible danger to pupils and others given its proximity to the school's entrance.
