The Old Brown Cow Inn, shown here, was once a private house. It was the birthplace of Robert Dodsley (b.1703), the author, bookseller and publisher, founder of the Annual Register in 1758. He was a friend of Dr Johnson and an author of many books including 'The King and the Miller of Mansfield'.
