The college, formerly the County College of Art, was built in 1930 and utilised part of the site at the rear of the Technical College, which opened 2 years earlier. Since the 1870's, the School of Art had occupied various buildings including Carr Bank in the Park district of the town. The College of Art and the Technical College now both form part of the West Notts College.
