Showing Market Stalls in the Market Place, with the Denman's Head pub on the right hand side of the photograph. The Denman's Head Hotel at the corner of Low street was built in c 1750, and was once called the King's Head. Its name was changed in 1820 because the landlord of the time greatly admired Lord Chief Justice Denman's defence of Queen Caroline at her trial. Market Stalls can be seen in the background.
