This building was formerly the Portland/Savoy Cinema. The opening ceremony of the 'Portland' took place on Monday, February 22nd 1937. See the excellent website www.berniebumpkin.co.uk for more information on the Portland Cinema. This was the old Kwik Save. The new Kwik Save, built in the far right of this picture when the cinema and the old Kwik Save were raised, burnt down around 1994-95.
