The Duke of Portland (1857-1943) and Mr. George Gershom Bonser (1851-1947) at the opening of the Church of St. Modwen, Sutton in Ashfield, 15 July 1936. St Modwen's Church formerly a timber and corrugated iron building on Hardwick Lane. St. Modwen's Church on Station Road officially closed its doors for the last time on July 12 1987.
