Midworth Street
Mansfield
England
This view was taken from Church Lane and shows the Malt Houses. The last local malthouse was that of Addison Titley & Co, Midworth Street [suppliers to Mansfield Brewery]. This had previously belonged to William Broadhurst, who ran what was reckoned to be the largest firm of Maltsters in the County. At Midworth Street there were two kilns. A stone growing-floor, where the barley was kept damp to sprout, occupied most of the rest of the lower floor. The upper floor was used for store-rooms.
