Market Place
Mansfield
England
Mansfield was granter charter by King Henry III in 1227. The weekly market ran on Mondays until 1329 when it changed to Thursdays. Prior to 1823 the market was held in the environs of St Peter's Church, and at the bottom of Leeming Street. Under the Mansfield Improvement Act of 1823 the Mansfield Improvement Commissioners constructed the present Market Place in the period 1823-1839, and from 1840 the market occupied its present site.
