Also showing the Nag's Head Inn (left) and J. Cowling shop front. A Square stone base and plinth supporting a smooth, round stone column topped with square sundial with metal armatures. Surmounted by a stone ball. A Grade II listed monument. A cross has been here since medieval times, though this cross is probably 16th century. On 31st March 1603, James VI (of Scotland) and I of England was proclaimed King here by Sir John Byron and others.
