Compare this picture with bar-code no. NCCC000150 (1973). The men are sitting next to 'The Coronation Oak which was planted in 1901 to commemorate the coronation of Edward VII. The Oak is just out of shot on the right with only a few leaves showing. The square hole at the edge of the pavement is a horse trough, fed by the barely visible culvert from a spring that rose in Swingate. The Main St Methodist Church stands in the background, beside the tram of the Derbyshire and District Tramways Company, en route from Nottingham to Ripley. Copy of an original photograph loaned to Reg Baker by Mr F. Pike, Kimberley.
