Looking east from the entrance to Rectory Junction. The metal lattice girder bridge carries the tracks over the river Trent and to the left is the viaduct over the floodplain to Grantham. Also visible in this view from the top of the signal-box steps, the track furthest away in the foreground is a siding (or 'loop' line, i.e. a refuge for slow-moving trains, allowing faster traffic to overtake).
