Hucknall fire brigade with their steam fire wagon

This photograph is taken in the old depot of the Hucknall Urban District council. The stone gable wall in the background is the rear wall of the council chamber located at first floor above the Watnall road offices of the council. The wicker basket at the rear of the wagon was to prevent fish and weeds being sucked up the hose when the firemen drew water from ponds and streams to spray on fires.
