Street party celebration for VE or VJ Day, Hucknall

The title on the back of this picture says 'Proper' street party but it is not known what is meant by this. Also it is not known whether the celebration was for Victory in Europe or Victory over Japan. On the 7th May l945 Germany surrendered and the 8th May was declared VE day (Victory in Europe). Officially, VJ Day is 15 August 1945.
