Howitt (1889-1968), architect who designed the Nottingham Council House and many other splendid buildings in Nottingham and elsewhere (including several Odeon cinemas). During the First World War he won the DSO and the French Croix de Guerre and rose to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. Born in Hucknall !'
