At the time the school was in the old school building on Main Street, Burton Joyce and this photo was taken in the playground at rear of the school. The area behind the photo and Church Road was known as Barnes Field after the butcher who had a shop on Main Street and used to do his own slaughtering. The slaughter house is still standing but is now thought to be offices. Barnes Field was subsequently built on. The library, a row of bungalows and the vicarage now stand on the site. The School moved to Padleys Lane some time in the 1960s.
