The former GNR line to Gedling, Daybrook and Basford is shown in the background. This closed to passenger traffic in 1960 and has since been used for Gedling Colliery only. The Nottingham to Lincoln line is shown passing under the GNR bridge and the Colwick Loop Road bridge where the photographer is standing.
