This was the birthplace of Dr Henry Jephson, 1798-1878. Dr Henry Jephson was born at Sutton-in-Ashfield, Nottingham in October 1798. He was in practice at 7 York Terrace, Leamington. Jephson was a celebrated physician within Leamington and with a national reputation. He was also a generous benefactor to the town. Jephson was a leading figure in the town's early 19th Century expansion as a health spa. In 1847 his health broke down and the following year Jephson became blind and retired. He died in May 1878 aged 80. Amongst his most famous patients were Princess Victoria, the Duchess of Kent, George IV, Florence Nightingale, WE Gladstone, John Ruskin.
