Mount Pleasant, off Westfield Lane, approximately opposite Westfield Folk House, 1925. The high houses with steps were former stockingers houses, probably built and used in the 18th century, the uppermost windows being in rooms in which the man of the house, assisted by his wife and children, would work a stocking frame, often up to 18 hours a day, for a few shillings a day, from which payment of the hire of the frame had to be made. The area was demolished and cleared during 1955.
