View from New Eastwood, Eastwood, c 1910 ?

New Eastwood
Eastwood
England

A view looking north-west from New Eastwood towards Eastwood with St Mary's Church prominent in the distance. The footpath in the foreground linked Church Street with what is today Chewton Street, between New Eastwwod and Newthorpe Common but later disappeared when this area was built over with housing, probably in the 1950s. An approximate modern equivalent view would be taken from the turning circle at the south-eastern extremity of Manor Road with the hedgeline indicating the alignment of Webster Avenue and Wilson Road. Picture the Past is grateful to website contributor Brian Yeomans for pointing out that the details given for this image originally were not correct.
