Badger Baiting, Flintham Woods on the Flintham Hall estate, pre 1914. Considered verminous and harmful to cattle, badgers were hunted using a live specimen (on leash) to flush out others from the set. If necessary a spade was used to reach the entrenched animals. For further information see 'The Newark Advertiser', 8th March 1911, p8.
