A view of the Hoveringham Woolly Mammoth which was sculptured by Kim James to be erected ouside head office of Hoveringham Gravels on Thurgarton Lane Hoveringham when it opened in 1965. The inspiration for the mammoth came from the remains of a woolly mammoth found nearby. When the company was taken over in 1991 the sculpture was given as a gift to Trent University where it was housed outside the Erasmus Darwin Buildings on Clifton Campus. In 2020 the village local history group at Hoveringham raised funds to bring the mammoth back to Hoveringham and in 2022 it was returned and sited close to it
