The Old Mill
Caythorpe
England
Looking S.W. The name on the gate relates to a large house on the East side, which once housed the wealthy owner of this mill, which was powered by the water of the Dover Beck, which flows beneath it. The chained rails near the tree on the left serve as the parapet of the bridge carrying the driveway. Incorporated in the gable and the front of the building are the cog-wheels that were once part of the mill's mechanism. It is now just a residence. Orphans were employed in the mill, and Reg Baker, the photographer was told by an octogenarian of the village that the woollen undergarments for David Livingstone were made there.
