River trent
Winthorpe
Nottinghamshire

Looking upstream towards Newark. Visible on the horizon are: The British Sugar Factory at Kelham (left), and the Staythorpe Power Station (right). In the centre of the picture is the junction of the man-made course of the river (from Staythorpe via Newark - left), and the normal course of the river via Kelham and South Muskham (right). The water seen far right is not part of the river but disused gravel pits. Behind these gravel pits may just be seen a British Rail InterCity 125 high speed train crossing the Muskham viaduct en route to Kings Cross Station in London (Great North Eastern Railway).
