Winthorpe Bridge carries the A1 over the river Trent at Winthorpe Rack. The picture is taken looking upstream towards the bridge. Through the centre span may be seen Kelham Church, and through the right span, the sugar beet factory at Kelham. Winthorpe Bridge was built between 1962 and 1964 to carry the A1 Newark bypass over the river Trent. It was designed by Mr A Goldstein, an engineer with R Travers Morgan and Partners. In June 1988, Winthorpe Bridge became one of ten post-war bridges to be listed by English Heritage as being of special architectural interest. It is Listed Grade II. The bridge is made of stressed concrete.
